His pioneering work includes the introducing for the first time in Greece new types of Services: University Child Guidance Clinic (1958), Students' Psychotherapy Clinic (1960), Psychiatric Departments in General Hospitals (1978, 1986), Mental Health Mobile Units for the countryside (1980, 1987), plans for an Adolescents'Centre (1996).

He has published five books on psychoanalytic and therapeutic themes, and recently four others after his research of psychological issues in Aristotelian philosophy. His last title is: "The Psychology of Aristotle: from a psychoanalytic therapist's perspective"(Karnac, London 2011).

Lefteris Lykouras

Professor Lykouras was born in Piraeus Greece, graduated from the Athens University School of Medicine in 1969 and completed his residency in Neurology and Psychiatry in 1975. He completed his PhD in 1981 and a post-doctorate appointment in 1988. He speaks Greek English and French. He received a Doctoral dissertation scholarship (1974-1975) and a Post-doctoral research scholarship (1978-1981). He is member of a significant number of national and international scientific societies and participated in the organization of congresses and was invited speaker chairman of session or participant in more than 150 scientific events. He has authored or co-authores more than 500 journal articles and abstracts, received more than 1.000 citations and 10 books. He has received a number of national and international awards included the 'Papanikolaou' award for the best research paper in 2011.

Constantin Soldatos

Constantin R. Soldatos, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Mental Health Care Unit, Evgenidion Hospital, University of Athens. He is the founder and Director (1980-2007) of the Sleep Research Unit at the Eginition Hospital and he has served as chairman of both the 1st and the 2nd Departments of Psychiatry at the University of Athens. Professor Soldatos is consultant/advisor to several governmental and nongovernmental organizations and Committee member of various national and international scientific bodies, such as the World Health Organization and the Committee for Proprietary Medicinal Products of the EU. Also, he is member of more than 40 National and International Scientific Societies. He is author or co-author of 216 articles and invited author of about 200 chapters in edited books. His ISI papers have received more than 6628 citations (h-index=44 with total impact factor of 1013 and m-factor=120) as of March 2013. He has been Editor or Co-editor of 38 books on psychiatry and/or sleep research, Editor – in- chief of the Archives of Hellenic Medicine and Guest Editor of three international psychiatric journals. Also, he is member of the Editorial/Advisory Boards of a good member of  international scientific journals.

Vassilis Kontaxakis

Dr. Vassilis Kontaxakis is Professor of Clinical and Social Psychiatry in the Athens University, 2nd Psychiatric Department, "Attikon" General Hospital, Athens, Greece. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal "Psychiatriki"-the official journal of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association (HPA)-and Chair of the Section on Preventive Psychiatry of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA). He is, also, Chairman of the Athens Division and the Preventive Psychiatry Section of the HPA. He has made presentations on various aspects of Psychiatry in both national and international congresses (social psychiatry, deinstitutionalization, clinical psychopharmacology, psychopathology, suicide behaviour etc). He has around 250 full papers in national, international journals as well as chapters in books. He has been editor of two international (English) books and eleven Greek books. He has received awards for papers presented in three national and in two international congresses.

Angelos Halaris

Dr. Angelos Halaris graduated from University of Munich School of Medicine and received research training at the Max-Planck Institute for Psychiatry in Munich. After year at Novartis in Switzerland he joined the University of Chicago where he trained in psychiatry and psychopharmacology. He subsequently accepted a professorship at UCLA School of Medicine.  He was later appointed Vice Chair of Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University and Department Chair at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.  From 1993 through 2003 he served as Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  In 2003 he was appointed Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. He has received numerous research grants. He has published over 200 refereed articles, numerous chapters, and three books He was recently elected to active membership in the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Istvan Boksay

Istvan J.E. Boksay MD PhD is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at School Of Medicine, New York University (NYU), U.S.A. where he is a member of the Pharmaceutical and Therapeutic Committee, The Quality Assurance Committee and the Medication Safety Committee. He was a president of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association. Dr. Boksay is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He served several years as a member of the Council on Aging. Dr. Boksay is a geriatric Psychiatrist, published extensively and lectured worldwide. He did major contributions to describe the course of Dementia and the effect of medical conditions on the course of Dementia. He was the first who reported stage specific medical conditions in demented patients and reported behavioral and cognitive aspects of patients with NPH before and after VP shunt. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Semmelweis University of Medical Sciences in Budapest, Hungary and obtained a Doctor of Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Frankfurt in Germany.

Venetsanos Mavreas

Professor Venetsanos Mavreas was born in Athens in 1951. He studied medicine at the University of Athens and specialized in Neurology and Psychiatry in Athens. From 1983 to 1988, he worked at the Maudsley Hospital and the Institute of Psychiatry in London, where he took his Ph.D. in 1990. From 1988 to 2000, he worked at the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Athens Medical School and the University Mental Health Research Institute in Athens. From 2000 to 2018, he was Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Ioannina Medical School and Director of the Department of Psychiatry of the University Hospital of Ioannina. Currently he is Professor Emeritus of the University of Ioannina Medical School. The main topics of his work is psychiatric epidemiology, social and

community psychiatry, trans-cultural psychiatry and research methodology in mental health. He is member of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association and the World Psychiatric Association. He has been advisor of the World Health Association in issues of mental health, psychiatric classifications, research instruments and disability. He has published over 100 scientific papers in international and Greek scientific journals and books.

Xenia Gonda

Xenia Gonda, MA, PharmD, PhD, is an associate professor clinical psychologist and psychotherapist working at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Semmelweis University, Hungary. She is also Head of Department at the Department of Clinical Psychology at Semmelweis University and is currently part of the NAP-3-SE Neuropsychopharmacology Research Group, which is part of the Hungarian Brain Research Program. 

Professor Gonda is engaged in full-time clinical work in an acute psychiatric department, leads and outpatient clinical psychology and psychotherapy clinic, as well as participating in teaching and research. 

Her main research areas include bio-psycho-social aspects and gene-environment interaction effects in affective disorders and suicidal behaviour. 

Dr. Gonda has published more than 300 works, including more than 250 papers in international peer reviewed journals across various topics, such as genetic background and pharmacological and psychological interventions in depression and suicidal behaviour.

Apostolos The Bishop of Tanagra

Born in Eleftheroupoli of Kavala, he studied at the Theological School and at the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds a post doctorate in the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education, Department of Special Pedagogy and Psychology of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and Phd too.

He also holds masters: 1) in Special Education at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in autism and mental retardation, 2) in the Design of Educational Units at the University of the Aegean, specializing in gender equality and 3) in Language and Literature at the Democritus University of Thrace, specializing in the Black Sea countries.

He has written 13 research monographs on Special Education and Education, a monograph with research on the professional employment of Muslim, Roma, pomachand Christian women of the Rhodopes Law with an award from the Region of Anmak and Thrace, a monograph on the relations between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches, a chapter in English in an international Vatican writing on the subject of the Eucharist and three tales, translated into English. He is a member of the international consultancy IAC UNESCO, regular member of the Greek Red Cross of Alexandroupoli, regular member of the national mental health committee, regular member of the Ministry of Health’s committees for day centers for people with DDS. In July 2014, the World Health Organization made a special mention to his study on breastfeeding. The Vatican-based Giuseppe Scacca International Awards awarded him the 1st World Pedagogical Science Award for his research on autism, Down Syndrome and breastfeeding. On 16/1/2015 the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias awarded him the Golden Cross of the Order of Honor, which is the highest distinction of the Hellenic Republic.
